On January 31, 2024, just after midnight, two youths were arrested in the 1600 block of Burrows Avenue for an armed robbery.
Officers from the North District, the K9 Unit and TST located the youths after fleeing from the reported robbery in the Gilbert/Burrows area. A male and female couple reported standing at a bus stop when they were confronted by suspects armed with a handgun. They demanded their groceries, and the male victim was shot in the face with a C02-powered firearm.
The male victim in his 40s was transported to hospital in stable condition and treated, while the female in her 40s was not physically injured.
A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old male from Winnipeg are both facing the following charges:
- Robbery X 2
- Using Imitation Firearm in Commission of Offence
- Point Firearm
- Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Causing Bodily Harm with Intent – Air Gun or Pistol
They both remain in police custody at this time.
