Homicide Investigation Update – Arrest: C24-18139

As previously released, on January 24, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a physical altercation involving two males in front of a business in the 3100 block of Portage Avenue.

Officers attended and located an adult male requiring medical attention. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed.

The deceased has been identified as Kyriakos VOGIATZAKIS, 51 years old.

A male suspect was located in the area and taken into police custody. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation.

The investigation has revealed that VOGIATZAKIS and the suspect have had prior contact near the business. The two became involved in a confrontation, resulting in the VOGIATZAKIS being pushed to the ground and further assaulted until losing consciousness.

Curtis Ross DALEBOZIK, 38, has been charged with Manslaughter and Uttering Threats.

He has been detained in custody.
