In January 2024, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU) received information regarding an adult male suspect believed to have fled to Northern Manitoba following the murder of Lawrence Evan PRUDEN on November 5, 2023.

As previously released, the deceased PRUDEN and another 30-year-old male victim were shot after leaving an establishment in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue, and the suspects fled in a vehicle.

On November 29, in consultation with Manitoba Justice, a Canada-wide warrant for Second Degree Murder and Attempt to Commit Murder was issued for 21-year-old Bryce William WALKER regarding his involvement in the incident.

On January 23, 2024, members of MIVOAU and the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team located WALKER in a residence in Thompson and placed him under arrest on the strength of the warrant. WALKER was turned over to members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit in Thompson, where he was processed.

WALKER has been detained in custody.

Nathaniel GATEHOUSE-GILCHRIST, 23, had previously been arrested and charged regarding his involvement in the incident. He was detained in custody, and no further arrests are anticipated.

The Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU) is an integrated partnership between the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) and the Manitoba RCMP. MIVOAU, with the assistance of partner agencies, identifies, locates and apprehends individuals who have committed violent offences in Manitoba.

MIVOAU monitors and arrests high-risk offenders who have outstanding arrest warrants, stemming from serious assaults, gang involvement, drug trafficking, or firearms-related offences.
