Drug Investigation – Arrests: R23-63632

In November 2023, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit entered into a drug investigation that led officers to a suite in the 300 block of Hargrave Street.

On January 18, 2024, officers applied for and were granted a Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant for a suite and an associated vehicle.

Upon execution of the warrant, multiple individuals were observed, with three suspects attempting to flee via the balcony and onto the top level of the building’s parkade. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspects were safely taken into custody.

As a result of a search of the suite and vehicle, the following items were located and seized:

- Over 2100 grams of Cocaine - estimated street value $70,000

- 633 grams of a cutting agent

- Approximately $5000.00 Canadian currency

- Loaded 9mm Glock handgun with extended magazine

- 21 rounds of 9mm of ammunition

- Contaminated scales

Esayas Yoseph BERHANE, 19, Ziara JONANA, 21, Mustafa RAHMAN, 21, and two 20-year-old males were arrested.

They have been charged/facing numerous drug and weapon-related offences.

BERHANE, JONANA and RAHMAN have been detained in custody. The two 20-year-old males were released.
