Shooting – Arrest: C24-9630

On January 14, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a male who had been removed from an establishment in the 600 block of Archibald Street earlier in the evening later drove by in a vehicle and shot at the front entrance and fled. Patrons and staff were still present, but nobody was injured.

An initial investigation identified the suspect, and police subsequently learned he was at another establishment in the 500 block of St. Mary’s Road. The Tactical Support Team attended and took him into custody.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and a search warrant was executed for the suspect’s vehicle, and a Glock handgun was seized.

Lawrence Joshua FOWLES (33) of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Weapon

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

- Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent

He was treated at hospital for minor injuries that had occurred before his arrest and then detained in custody.
