Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision: C24-9151

On January 13, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to the report of a serious motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Cecil Street.

Dispatched West District General Patrol units were advised by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service that the pedestrian had been transported to hospital in critical condition where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. The driver and lone occupant of the involved vehicle remained on scene and spoke with investigating officers.

Members of the Traffic Division assumed the investigation and have identified the pedestrian as an 18-year-old male from Winnipeg.

Through their investigation, investigators determined the victim had run in front of the involved vehicle which was being driven southbound on Notre Dame Avenue approaching Cecil Street. The vehicle collided with the pedestrian resulting in life-altering injuries. The involved driver stopped his vehicle, called police and provided emergency medical care to the victim until ambulance arrived. The driver remained on scene and spoke with officers.
