Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C24-9461

On January 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., General Patrol officers from the North District, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to the report of an assault with bear spray aboard a transit bus.

A bus was evacuated after a male assaulted another passenger with bear spray. Police located the suspect still on the bus, and he was taken into custody and in possession of bear spray. The victim fled and has not been identified. No other passengers were injured.

Floyd Alex CHARTRAND (45) of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Weapon

- Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment

- Fail to Comply with Condition of Probation

He was detained in custody.
