On December 9, 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 100 block of Disraeli Freeway for the report of a male who had been assaulted earlier that day and transported to hospital by ambulance.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, a male suspect was identified, and an assault-related warrant was issued for his arrest. The relationship between the accused and the victim has not been established at this time.  

While the victim remained in hospital his condition diminished, and on December 26, 2023, he succumbed to his injuries.

After Crown consultation, a charge of Manslaughter was authorized for the death of 59-year-old Floyd Flett of Winnipeg. 

On December 29, 2023, police took a 30-year-old male into custody for Manslaughter and other weapons-related charges, and he remains in custody. The accused’s name will follow at a later date for investigational purposes.
