Off-Duty Officer Charged with Impaired Driving: C23-297123

On December 8, 2023, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a business in the 1300 block of Henderson Highway regarding a suspected impaired driver who just left that location.

As a result of the investigation by attending members, the driver was identified as an off-duty member and arrested at a residence a short time later. No injuries were reported.

The Winnipeg Police Service Professional Standards Unit was notified and continued the investigation.                

After a review, charges were authorized by Manitoba Prosecution Services.  A two-year member of the Winnipeg Police Service, Oleksii GERASYMCHUK, 39, has been charged with the following:

- Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both

- Within 2 hours of Ceasing to Operate a Conveyance is Impaired with BAC Equal or Over 80mgs

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been notified and has taken a monitor role in the investigation.
