On October 19, 2023, as the result of a drug investigation, the Guns & Gangs Unit took two adults into custody and executed a search warrant in the 100 block of James Avenue.
Over 1.3 million dollars worth of methamphetamine and fentanyl, a loaded handgun, and counterfeit currency were seized.
- Approximately 9 Kilograms of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $450,000)
- Approximately 2.1 Kilograms of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value: $850,000)
- A large quantity of prescription pills
- A loaded Glock handgun and ammunition
- Approximately $50,000 CDN currency
- $450,000 Counterfeit CDN currency
- Packaging Materials
A 27-year-old female, Ilse Brillette VAZQUEZ ARROYO of Mexico and a 27-year-old male, Juan Abad CASIMIRO PEREZ of Mexico, were charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – METHAMPHETAMINE
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – FENTANYL
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Counterfeit Money
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
They were both detained in custody.
