Residential Break & Enter – Arrest: C23-256456

Released: October 22, 2023 at 12:38 p.m.

On October 22, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1300 block of Raleigh Street for multiple reports of an individual stabbed during a break-in attempt to a residence.

General Patrol officers from the East District quickly attended and located an adult female suspect outside the residence suffering from an upper-body injury sustained from a stabbing. Officers provided emergency medical care by applying a tourniquet before ambulance arrived. She was transported to hospital and treated for her injury.

Further investigation by officers determined the suspect, intoxicated by alcohol, forcibly entered the victim’s residence by kicking in the front door following an earlier verbal dispute. The suspect was stabbed by an adult female resident in the upper body, preventing further entry into the residence. Two children in the residence at the time of the incident were unharmed.

The suspect and victim were previously known to one another.

A 29-year-old female from Winnipeg faces a Break & Enter with Intent – Dwelling House charge and was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
