On October 21, 2023, at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police attended a community correctional facility in the 1000 block of Main Street to apprehend an adult male wanted on a Canada-Wide Warrant.

North District General Patrol officers attended and met with the 38-year-old wanted male who was cooperative and compliant. Upon completing an accommodated phone call to a family member at the facility, the male suddenly jumped from the second-floor window of his room, resulting in serious bodily injuries. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been notified and has assumed responsibility for the investigation. Please direct any follow-up inquiries to the IIU.
