On October 18, 2023, at approximately 1:20 p.m., patrolling Central General Patrol officers of the Winnipeg Police Service observed an adult male walking northbound Isabel Street towards McDermot Avenue holding a large knife partially concealed on his person.
Officers observed the suspect attempt to enter a convenience store in the first 100 block of Isabel Street and stopped before he could enter. The suspect immediately fled, discarding the knife in a nearby yard in the process. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was safely arrested and placed in custody.
Officers recovered the knife and seized it as evidence.
A 20-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Weapon
- Breach of Recognizance
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
