On October 16, 2023, at approximately 7:15 p.m., General Patrol officers and Tactical Support Team (TST) members responded to the James Avenue and Princess Street area for the report of multiple firearm-related incidents.

The investigation has determined that the occupants of a white van confronted a group while in the area of Main Street and Pacific Avenue. After a brief verbal exchange, a male from the vehicle produced a firearm and discharged it, striking a male youth. The male was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., officers located the van abandoned in the 400 block of Toronto Street. TST members located and arrested a female and male youth possessing a firearm in the same area. Both remain in police custody and are facing charges.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
