Update:
On October 6, 2023, the now 19-year-old male driver was arrested by members of the Traffic Division. He is facing the following charge:
- Criminal Negligence Cause Death
Speed and manner of driving were factors in the collision.
He was released from custody.
As previously released:
On October 18, 2022, at approximately 8:53 p.m., emergency personnel responded to St. Mary’s Road and Guay Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole.
The driver and a lone passenger were transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver, an 18-year-old male (at the time of the incident), remained in serious condition, while the passenger, a 17-year-old male, was pronounced deceased shortly after being transported to a hospital.
The Traffic Division continued the investigation.
