Update:

On July 10, 2023, a 42-year-old male, Abdiazia Ahmed SAEED, was arrested for the murder of Marcel Alphonse PAINCHAUD.

Investigators in the Homicide Unit determined the accused and the victim were tenants in the same building and known to each other. An altercation occurred in the victim’s suite, where SAEED fatally stabbed him.

SAEED has been charged with Second Degree Murder and detained in custody.
 

Previously released:

On July 8, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an assaulted male in a residential suite in the 300 block of Langside Street.

Officers located the victim, who was deceased and has been identified as 64-year-old, Marcel Alphonse PAINCHAUD of Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and asks anyone with information to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
