Aggravated Assault – Arrests: C23-67842

On March 24, 2023, at approximately 8:19 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of College Avenue for the report of a male shot. Attending members located an injured adult male victim within a suite of a multi-room residence.

North District General Patrol officers attended and located a 34-year-old male victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound to the lower body. He was found within a suite of a multi-room residence and provided with emergency medical care with the application of a tourniquet. The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and underwent surgery.

The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) assumed the investigation and identified four suspects, of which two were known to the victim.

 Investigators learned that on March 19, at approximately 12:00 p.m., four suspects attended to the victim’s residence, two armed with firearms. Two of the suspects physically assaulted the victim using their firearms. The victim was confined against his will, and the suspects threatened to kill him.

Through their investigation, investigators also learned that on March 24, at approximately 8:17 a.m., the four suspects attended the victim’s residence and forced their way inside the suite. The suspects proceeded to assault the victim with a firearm physically and threatened to kill him. After shooting him in the lower body, the four suspects fled the residence with the victim’s property. The victim sustained life-altering injuries as a result of the assault.

On June 6, 2023, at approximately 12:50 p.m., members of MCU attended Stony Mountain Institution and arrested George Sabastian PAUL (30) of Winnipeg. He is charged with the following offences:

- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Kidnapping
- Break, Enter and Theft – Dwelling House
- Aggravated Assault
- Break, Enter and Commit Robbery – Dwelling House
- Pointing a Firearm
- Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent

On June 10, 2023, at approximately 7:55 p.m., North District General Patrol officers attended to the 200 block of College Avenue and arrested Sam MARSDEN (27) of Winnipeg. He is charged with the following offences:

- Break, Enter and Commit Robbery – Dwelling House

On June 25, 2023, at approximately 11:43 a.m., members of MCU attended Brandon Correctional Centre and arrested Darnell Cole WILLIAMS (28) of Winnipeg. He is charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Weapon
- Break, Enter and Commit Robbery – Dwelling House

On June 29, 2023, at approximately 3:35 p.m., North District Community Support members, with the assistance of members of the Tactical Support Team, attended to the 700 block of Flora Avenue and arrested Thomas Jeremy SPENCE (36) of Winnipeg. He is charged with the following offences:

- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
- Kidnapping
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

- Possession of a Weapon
- Aggravated Assault

- Break, Enter and Commit Robbery – Dwelling House

  All four were detained in custody.
