In early May of 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit began investigating two individuals believed to have taken temporary residence in Winnipeg to traffic illicit drugs.
Investigators identified two adult males and a short-term rental residence in the 100 block of Northwater Bay.
On June 1, 2023, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit, assisted by members of the Tactical Support Team, executed a search warrant at the residence and seized the following as evidence:
- Approximately $35,000 CDN currency
- Approximately 560 grams of Powder Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $56,000)
- Approximately 54 grams of Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $5,400)
- Approximately 700 Percocet Prescription Pills (Estimated Street Value = $7,000)
- Packaging Material
- Various Legal Documents and Identification
The suspects were not present at the residence when the search warrant was executed. A search of the suspects was met with negative results.
Ahmed WAZIRY, 25, of Ottawa, ON, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5,000
Najibullah RASSOULI, 29, of Ottawa, ON, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5,000
Both suspects remain at large and are believed to be evading police. Warrants for the suspects’ arrests have been issued, and the Provincial Crown’s Office has authorized charges.
