Weapons Investigation – Arrests: C23-143744

On June 15, 2023, at approximately 1:50 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service General Patrol members responded to Abinojii Mikanah and Newmarket Boulevard regarding the sound of shots.

Further information led officers to a suite located in the 400 block of Ballantrae Drive. Upon entry to the suite, two uncooperative males and a female were located and identified.

The investigation revealed that the occupants had attended to the suite balcony while armed with a rifle and discharged multiple rounds into a field behind the residence. As a result, members of the Winnipeg Police Service were summoned. No injuries were reported.     

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation, executing search warrants. The following was located in the suite and seized by officers:

- Fully operational SKS – semi-automatic rife

- Two additional rifles/shotguns in various states of disassembly

- Ammunition

- 23 rocks of crack cocaine  - estimated street value $4,600

- various scales and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking

Mason BUCHNER-MONKMAN, 24, Devon MEYER, 24 and a 23-year-old female of Winnipeg, have been charged with numerous weapon and drug-related offences.

The males have been detained in custody.
