Assault – Public Assistance: C23-90434

The Winnipeg Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect related to a serious assault on April 19, 2023.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., a female in her 40s entered her car parked in a lot in the 800 block of Portage Avenue. Moments later, an unknown male unexpectedly entered the passenger side and began assaulting her. She managed to escape the vehicle and was thrown to the ground, where the attack continued.

A passerby intervened by shouting at the suspect, who then fled. He was last seen eastbound towards Broadway between the houses near Picardy Place.

The victim was assessed by paramedics and received subsequent treatment at the hospital.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, a Winnipeg Police sketch artist met with an eye witness, and a composite sketch of the suspect was completed.
