On May 12, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received multiple calls reporting a male brandishing a firearm near Grant Avenue and Nathaniel Street.
General Patrol officers from the West District, assisted by good Samaritans, located the suspect and placed him under arrest following a brief use-of-force encounter. Officers recovered an imitation firearm and three $100 Canadian counterfeit bills from the suspect; all seized as evidence.
During their investigation, officers learned the suspect had attended a nearby restaurant parking lot where he brandished the firearm threatening a 16-year-old victim before walking away. No injuries were reported.
Due to the nature of the incident and proximity to Grant Park High School, school officials initiated hold and secure procedures until officers advised the suspect was in custody.

- Possession of a Weapon
- Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
