On May 7, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to an assault outside an East Kildonan residence near McLeod Ave and Louelda Street.

Police located the victim, an adolescent male, lying on the ground with serious injuries. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, treated, and later upgraded to stable condition. Witnesses in the area indicated the victim was assaulted on the ground by a group of individuals outside a residence who subsequently fled.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation and identified two male youths and a female youth believed to be involved in the incident. On May 11, investigators arrested all three suspects without incident.

Through their investigation, investigators learned the suspects attended to the above location, physically assaulted the victim armed with a baseball bat, and robbed him of personal property. The victim sustained severe bodily injuries from the assault but is expected to recover fully. All suspects left before the police arrived.

A 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old female are facing the charge of Assault and were released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

A 16-year-old male is facing the charges of Aggravated Assault and Robbery and was detained in custody.

The investigation is concluded, and further arrests are not anticipated.
