On April 28, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., West District General Patrol officers responded near the intersection of Century Street and Saskatchewan Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle and occupants.
Attending officers located the vehicle and identified both male occupants, one of which was wanted on an outstanding Canada-Wide Warrant. A recent bulletin issued by Manitoba Criminal Intelligence Centre (MCIC) assisted in identifying the wanted male.
Following a search of both males and the vehicle, officers located and seized the items below:
- Modified 12-gauge shotgun
- Ammunition
- Two knives
- Two cellular phones
- Approximately 35 grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value $3500.00)
- 96 Xanax pills (Estimated Street Value $650.00)
- Approximately $6800.00 Canadian currency
Ryan Thang MOAR, 30, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Contravention of storage regulations
- Possess firearm contrary to order x3
- Possess cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possess Xanax for the purpose of trafficking
- Possess proceeds of crime
Braiden Andre GARAND, 23, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a firearm knowing its Possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of a firearm, restricted/prohibited weapon or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x 2
- Possession of a weapon X 2
- Fail to comply with conditions of release order X 7
- Warrant - apprehension and suspension of Parole/Statutory Release
Both males were detained in custody.
