Firearm/Stabbing – Arrests: C23-94228

Released: April 25, 2023 at 1:40 p.m.

On April 25, 2023, at approximately 1:45 a.m., General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to a gun call with a reported stabbing at a residence in the 500 block of Flora Avenue.

Officers located a 12-year-old female victim who had been stabbed. They provided emergency medical care, and she was transported to hospital by paramedics in unstable condition.

An investigation determined a group of teens were gathering at the residence when one of the party-goers (a 13-year-old female) was ousted from the residence.

She later returned armed with a knife in the company of an adult female brandishing an imitation firearm. They forcibly entered the home, confronted the residents at gunpoint, and attempted to stab one of them.  

As the altercation continued, one of the youths was actually stabbed (the 12-year-old female victim), and the suspects fled.

The adult suspect was located in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue, and an imitation firearm was seized.

The youth suspect was taken into custody in the 1600 block of Magnus Avenue.

The Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation.

A 38-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Break Enter & Commit- Dwelling House

- Aggravated Assault

- Possession of a Weapon

- Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence

She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

A 13-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Break Enter & Commit- Dwelling House

- Aggravated Assault

- Assault with a Weapon

- Possession of a Weapon x 2

She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

The 12-year-old victim was upgraded to stable condition, and no other victims required medical attention.
