Update:

Today, the Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the discovery of partial female remains along the riverbank in the South Point Douglas neighbourhood.

Investigators have yet to identify the female and have described her as follows:

- Female believed to be over 20 years old of unknown ethnicity

- Between 5’0” and 5’5” in height with a slight build

- Short, dark coloured hair, both ears doubled-pierced

- Cesarean “C” section scar

- No upper or lower teeth (believed to be previously missing)

Anyone with information that may assist investigators in identifying the female is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS.

As previously released:

On April 15, 2023, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Curtis Street and Higgins Avenue for a report that possible human remains had been found in the area.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the remains of a deceased individual had been located. Officers have not been able to confirm any details of the deceased person. A post-mortem examination is pending.
