Firearm Investigation - Arrest: C23-70421

In March of 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service’s North District Community Support Unit began a firearm investigation involving a wanted male suspect in the City’s North End.

On March 27, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers observed the suspect enter the rear passenger seat of a taxi in the 400 block of Dufferin Avenue and subsequently conducted a traffic stop at Salter Street and Aberdeen Avenue. The suspect attempted to flee on foot; however, officers quickly placed the suspect under arrest without incident.

A sawed-off 12 Gauge double-barrel shotgun equipped with a Crossman scope was recovered within the vehicle and seized as evidence.

George Sebastian PAUL, 29, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Carrying Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2
- Canada-Wide Warrant of Apprehension of Parole/Statutory Release

He was detained in custody.
