On February 24, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Edmonton Street for the report of a male who had been stabbed.

Central District General Patrol officers assisted by members of the Tactical Support Team attended and located a 21-year-old male suffering upper-body injuries sustained from a stabbing in a hallway of the building. Officers provided emergency medical care to the victim, including applying chest seals and tourniquets. An adult male suspect known to the victim fled the scene before police arrived. The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and treated for injuries, including two collapsed lungs. The victim’s condition was later upgraded to stable.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and identified a male suspect through their investigation and obtained a Warrant for his arrest.

On February 27, the suspect turned himself into police and was placed under arrest without incident.

Ren Carter GEORGE, 19, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

- Aggravated Assault

- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking

He was detained in custody.

The Major Crimes Unit continues the investigation. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
