Search Warrant - Arrests: C23-39458

During February 2023, the Guns & Gangs Unit of the Winnipeg Police Service entered into a drug trafficking and firearms possession investigation involving several individuals in the City’s North End.

An adult male suspect and a residence in the 400 block of Flora Avenue were identified through their investigation. Investigators applied for and were granted search warrants for the involved residence.

On February 18, 2023, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit observed the adult male exit the residence and enter an awaiting vehicle occupied by an adult male and adult female. Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Lydia Street and Notre Dame Avenue, where all three occupants were placed under arrest without incident.

On the same date, the Tactical Support Team, assisted by Central District General Patrol officers, executed the search warrants at the residence in the 400 block of Flora Avenue and arrested several occupants.

Officers searched the residence and seized the following items as evidence:

- Remington 710 Rifle

- Assorted Ammunition

- York Compound Bow

- Approximately 502 grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $25,100)

- Packaging Materials

Michael Maurice MENTUCK, 32, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

He was detained in custody.

Venie Muriel RINTOUL, 50, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

- Fail to Comply With Condition of Undertaking

She was detained in custody.

A 51-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

- Highway Traffic Act Offence- Drive Suspended

He was released via Appearance Notice to attend court at a later date.

A 51-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

He was released via Appearance Notice to attend court at a later date.

A 30-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

A 27-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
