Robberies – Arrest: C23-36684

Members of the Major Crimes Unit have arrested a male for ten commercial robberies between January 30 and February 14, 2023.

Five businesses were targeted during the 15-day period:

- A gas station in the 400 block of Academy Road.
- A gas station in the 300 block of Wardlaw Avenue.
- A gas station in the 3600 block of Portage Avenue.
- A gas station in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue.
- A restaurant in the 2300 block of Ness Avenue.

In many of the incidents, the male was armed with a knife and obtained money and product. In other cases, he stated he had a weapon or was unsuccessful. Each robbery occurred during evening hours, and it is believed that the suspect utilized a stolen vehicle.

After the last robbery was attempted (on February 14, 2023), Major Crimes Unit investigators, who were in the area, observed the stolen vehicle operating nearby. The car was stopped, and the suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of West District officers and the Tactical Support Team.

A 32-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

- Robbery x 10
- Disguise with Intent x 10
- Theft of Motor Vehicle

He was detained and is not being named at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.
