Commercial Robbery - Arrests: C22-301028

On December 30, 2022, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a business in the 500 block of Dale Boulevard for the report of commercial robbery.

General Patrol officers from the West District attended and located a 66-year-old male victim suffering from the effects of bear spray. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service personnel medically assessed the victim at the scene. Officers located two suspects in the first 100 block of Westgrove Way and placed them under arrest after a short foot pursuit.

Through their investigation, officers learned the suspects had attended the business and proceeded to steal multiple cigarette and tobacco products from behind the counter when it was left unattended. One of the suspects discharged a canister of bear spray at the victim before both fled with the stolen property. (Estimated value: $2,000).

A 13-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Robbery
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking x 2

He was detained in custody.

A 14-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charge:

- Robbery

She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
