On December 27, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a fight on a Winnipeg Transit Bus at St. Anne’s Road and Niakwa Road involving several people, one of which was armed with a machete.

General Patrol Officers from the East District attended and located a 34-year-old male victim on the bus. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service members treated and medically cleared the victim on the bus. Officers located the suspect in the first 100 block of Alpine Road and arrested him without incident. Officers seized a machete and a sheath in his possession as evidence.

The suspect who had produced the machete was assisted off the bus and fled before the police arrived.

An 18-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon

He was released with an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
