Homicide – Arrest: C22-275383

As previously released:

On November 26, 2022, at 1:44 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to an apartment block in the 500 block of Furby Street for the report of shots heard in the building.

Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured adult male inside a suite and administered emergency medical care. The male was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced deceased. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

The deceased has been identified as Daniel Michael George Cook, a 29-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Update:

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and identified a male suspect.

During the evening of December 21, 2022, the suspect was located and taken into custody near Sargent Avenue and Agnes Street.

Tyler Alexander Severight, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Second Degree Murder

It is believed that the accused and the victim, known to each other as associates, were involved in a dispute which escalated into a fatal shooting.

He was detained.
