The Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a suspicious male who approached an eleven-year-old youth walking to school along the 600 block of St. Matthews Avenue on the morning of November 17.
An initial report indicated that at approximately 9:00 a.m., the stranger approached the youth, offering him candy. When the child refused, the suspect grabbed hold of his arm. The child broke free and ran, with the suspect chasing him, again trying to take hold of him. The child made it safely to the school, and the suspect ran in the other direction.
The school has notified the parental community regarding this incident.
- The suspect has been described as an Indigenous male with a medium build and a white beard. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and had a white striped hat.
