On November 5, 2022, at approximately midnight, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the Winnipeg Southwest Rapid Transitway (Chancellor Drive/Pembina Highway) for the report of a female victim who had been sexually assaulted.

Officers from the West District attended the Victoria General Hospital and met with the 20-year-old victim who sustained several lacerations and injuries to the upper body.

It was learned the victim was sitting inside the bus shelter when a male approached her, yielding a knife. The male directed her to undress and threatened to harm her if she did not comply with his direction. The victim was then physically and sexually assaulted. An arriving Transit bus interrupted the assault, and the suspect fled southbound with some of the victim’s property.

The suspect is described as:

- Indigenous, approximately 30 years, 5’6” to 5’8”, thin build and shorter black hair
- wearing: white short sleeve t-shirt and dark-colored joggers
- knife described as a larger kitchen knife with a grey/black handle

The Sex Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation and requests public assistance with any information regarding the incident. Anyone who may have been in the area or observed anyone matching the suspect’s description is asked to contact the Sex Crimes Unit at 204-986-6245 or Crimestoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
