Update:

On October 25, 2022, Traffic Division investigators were alerted to the first 100 block of Scotswood Drive (Charleswood) for the report of an abandoned vehicle.

Investigators attended and located a white 2019 Hyundai Tucson and another parked vehicle nearby. Both vehicles were noted to have sustained collision damage. Investigators believe the Hyundai Tucson to be the vehicle involved in the fatal motor vehicle collision, which occurred on October 24 at the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Keewatin Street. It is also believed that the Hyundai Tucson collided with the parked vehicle after its involvement in the fatal motor vehicle incident.

Investigators continue requesting public assistance for any information regarding the incident and areas the white 2019 Hyundai Tucson may have traveled in and around the time of the collisions.

Anyone with information, including dash camera video or doorbell/home security camera video of the involved vehicle and the manner of driving before the collisions, is asked to contact Traffic Division investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).

As previously released:

On October 24, 2022, at approximately 2:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service attended to the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Keewatin Street for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Officers from the West District attended to the intersection where Paramedics were providing emergency medical care to an injured male lying in the street. The suspect

vehicle and occupant (s) had fled the scene following the collision. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

Members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Section, assisted by the Forensic Services Unit, conducted a scene examination and identified the victim as a 56-year-old male from Winnipeg. Notifications have been made.

The Traffic Division is investigating the collision as a hit & run incident. The suspect vehicle is described as a white or light-colored SUV.
