On October 21, 2022, at approximately 1:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a home invasion with a firearm in the 400 block of Stella Avenue.

Police learned that a male entered a residence where two adult females (he had previously met) and six children were sleeping. He assaulted both adults, demanded money and threatened to kill everyone in the house. The victims believed he had a firearm concealed in his waistband.

The suspect then ordered a taxi and forced one of the victims to accompany him to a bank in the 200 block of Portage Avenue with her bank card. When the victim could not withdraw money, the suspect took her card and fled on foot. The victim ran to safety.

General Patrol members located the suspect walking near Notre Dame/Hargrave, where he was taken into custody. A firearm was not recovered.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. While in custody, the accused damaged the interview room.

A 15-year-old male was charged with the following offences:

- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Break, Enter with Intent – Dwelling House
- Kidnapping
- Assault x 2
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 8
