Luring/Sexual Assault – Arrest: C22-179952

Released: October 18, 2022 at 8 a.m.

In August 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Child Abuse Unit received a child luring report involving a male suspect who made the acquaintance of two at-risk teenagers.

One of the females reported going to a park in the Centennial neighbourhood, where he subsequently met her and offered her liquor if she kissed him. When she declined, he took hold of her and tried to kiss her. She managed to free herself and fled for safety. She was not physically injured.

The suspect was identified, and MIHRSOU assumed the investigation. MIHRSOU is the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit, a joint task force comprised of the Winnipeg Police Service and the RCMP. As part of their mandate, MIHRSOU monitors high-risk sex offenders in Manitoba to ensure their compliance with court orders.

On October 17, 2022, Luigi DEANGELIS (56) was charged with the following offences:

- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
- Obtaining Sexual Services from a Person Under 18

He was detained in custody.
