Public Assistance – Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision: C22-241250

Released: October 17, 2022 at 8 a.m.

On October 16, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service and emergency personnel responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Berry Street.

An adult female was lying in the roadway and seriously injured. She was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators have identified the victim as 24-year-old Shannon Joan Marie ROMANIUK of Winnipeg.

Members of the Traffic Division have assumed the investigation and learned the victim was crossing Portage Avenue when she was struck by the suspect vehicle, described as a silver/grey late model SUV. The vehicle and occupant(s) left the scene after the collision and remain outstanding.

Anyone with information, including dash camera video footage of the suspect vehicle and the manner of driving before the collision, is asked to contact Traffic Division investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
