Weapons – Arrests: R22-50906

In September 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Firearms Investigation and Enforcement Unit (FIEU) entered a firearms investigation regarding a male suspect and a residence in the West Alexander neighbourhood.

On October 6, 2022, members of the FIEU, Guns & Gangs Unit, and Tactical Support Unit executed a search warrant on a residence in the 1400 block of Ross Avenue West. Officers placed an adult male and an adult female under arrest without incident.

The following items were seized as evidence by investigators after a search of the residence:

- Sawed-off 12-gauge Shotgun x 2 (both in disassembled state)
- Small caliber Gun Barrels x 2
- Trigger Mechanism
- Assorted Loose Firearms Components
- Assorted Ammunition

Investigators believe the seized parts were intended for use in the fabrication of Zip guns.

George Junior MCIVOR, 42, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations x 2

He remains in custody.

A 34-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 2
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations x 2

She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
