On September 13, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Central District Patrol members responded to a fight call that turned out to be a stabbing at a vendor in the 600 block of Balmoral Street.

Officers located a male in his twenties who was stabbed and bleeding profusely. They administered emergency medical care, including a chest seal patch, and he was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded.

The victim was outside the vendor when a group of people attacked him. They pointed a gun at his head while he was punched, kicked and subsequently stabbed.

Police located four suspects nearby, placed them in custody and recovered a pellet gun. The investigation was subsequently turned over to the Major Crimes Unit.

The incident appeared to be motivated by gang rivalry. Three people were charged with assault and weapons-related offences, while a fourth individual was released with no charges.
