On August 19, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to the report of a male with a firearm in a vehicle operating in the area of Portage Avenue and Ashburn Street.

On August 20, at approximately midnight, General Patrol officers of the West District observed the vehicle occupied by three suspects near Pembina Highway and Jubillee Avenue. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop after a short follow and safely placed the occupants under arrest. An Ithica Model 37 16-gauge pump action shotgun was recovered from the vehicle. Officers also seized a quantity of powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and tablets believed to be ecstasy. The drugs were individually packaged and believed to be intended for distribution.
