On August 14, 2022, at approximately midnight, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a robbery by firearm in the 900 block of Portage Avenue.

Officers from the Central District, assisted by the Flight Operations Unit (Air1), attended to the area and located a male youth suspect being held by the victims. Officers safely placed the suspect under arrest, and the firearm, determined to be a Smith & Wesson BB air pistol, was seized.

Through their investigation, officers believe the suspect, wearing a balaclava, approached the five adult male victims (between 26 and 29 years of age) and produced a handgun to rob them of their property. The victims fled the area; however, the suspect approached them again while pointing the handgun and attempted to rob them a second time. The victims successfully subdued the suspect and held him until officers arrived.

The suspect and victims were not previously known to one another.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.

A 15-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Armed Robbery using a Firearm x 4
- Pointing a Firearm
- Carrying Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Disguise with Intent

He was detained in custody.
