On August 1, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 600 block of Alfred Avenue for the report of a person that had been stabbed.

Officers from the North District attended and located a female youth victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers provided emergency medical care through the use of a chest seal before ambulance arrival. The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

Officers located a female youth suspect in the area and placed her in custody. A knife was recovered in the area.

Through their investigation, officers believe the suspect approached the 13-year-old victim and her 12-year-old female companion in a playground in the 200 block of McKenzie Street, viciously attacked them in an unprovoked manner, and robbed them of their property before fleeing the area.

A 13-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

- Aggravated Assault
- Robbery x 2
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
- Assault Peace Officer

She was detained in custody.
