On July 21, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 2500 block of Main Street for the report of a Commercial Alarm.

Officers from the Central District attended to a business that had sustained significant storefront damage and noted an automated teller machine (ATM) had been removed from the premises. Shortly thereafter, officers located the ATM in the 3000 block of Main Street as well as an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the first 100 block of Meadowcrest Bay (believed to have been used during the incident).

Investigators believe a suspect attended the location in the stolen vehicle and reversed into the storefront to access the ATM within. The suspect connected the ATM to the vehicle using a chain and dragged for some distance before it became detached and ultimately located by officers. The suspect fled the area and remains outstanding.

This incident is being investigated by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
