On July 12, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1100 block of Grant Avenue for the report of several people who had been stabbed.

Responding officers from the North, West, and Central Districts assisted by AIR1, located two adult males suffering from injuries consistent with having been stabbed. Officers subsequently located an adult female, also suffering from stab wounds at the intersection of Thurso Street and Lorette Avenue.

The two male victims, a 43-year-old male and a 46-year-old male suffered injuries as a result of the attack. The 43-year-old male was transported to hospital in unstable condition and has since been upgraded to stable. The 46-year-old male was treated at the scene.

The 84-year-old female was transported to hospital in critical condition where she remains at this time.

The investigation determined the incident originated as a Break-In to a residential property in the 1000 block of Lorette Avenue owned by one of the male victims. As the male victims chased the suspect, the suspect stabbed the elderly female victim in an unprovoked manner causing extensive injuries. The male victims were able to follow and subdue the suspect until police arrived.

The victims and suspect were not previously known to one another.

A 15-year-old male of Winnipeg was placed under arrest and is facing the following charges:

- Aggravated Assault x 2
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
- Break & Enter with Intent – Place
- Mischief Under $5000 x 2

He remains in custody.
