Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C22-153301

On July 10, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Central District officers responded near the Disraeli/Henry intersection for an elderly male who was the victim of an unprovoked assault.

Officers located the victim in his seventies. He reported walking in the area (using his walker) when an unknown male approached him from behind and struck his head with a wooden board. He fell to the ground, and the suspect fled on foot. Paramedics treated and released the victim at the scene.

A neighbouring security officer was alerted to the assault by nearby witnesses. The security officer chased after the suspect and held him until police arrived. Upon arrest, the male provided a false name.

Dorian Reid HARDISTY (24) of Winnipeg was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Public Mischief.

He was detained in custody.
