Firearm/Drugs – Arrest: C22-150310

On July 7, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m., members of the North District Community Support Unit were actively searching for an individual with an outstanding warrant and firearms-related conditions. Police observed this male while patrolling in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue.

As police approached the male, he made comments about a firearm possibly in his possession.

Police took him into custody, and a search revealed the following items:

  • a loaded 9 mm handgun
  • compatible ammunition
  • 19 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value of $3,000)
  • 193 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $9,500)
  • 77 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $7,700)
  • approximately $4000 Canadian currency
  • $50 U.S. currency

Steven Raymond JOHNSTON (28) of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possess Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possess a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
  • Fail to Comply Condition of Release Order x 2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possess Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Warrant (Fail to Comply Release Order x 5)

He was detained in custody.
