Drug Offences – Arrests: C22-124141

Members of the Guns & Gangs Unit recently began an investigation into a male believed to be trafficking drugs.

On June 9, 2022, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers located the male in the company of a female in a vehicle near Tache Avenue and Marion Street. Both were taken into custody, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of:

- 258 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $12,900)
- $12,240 in Canadian currency
- Two mobile phones

Soon after, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at a residence in the 100 block of Humboldt Avenue. A number of items were seized, including the following:

- 4.9 kg of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $240,000)
- A digital scale contaminated with a residue
- Packaging material

James Thomas Wiebe, a 31-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine (x2)
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x2)

He was also processed on an outstanding warrant for suspension of his statutory release and detained in custody.

A 23-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x2)

She was released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
