Aggravated Assault – Arrests: C22-124999

On June 9, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an assault in a school field within the 100 block of Ellen Street.

A passerby contacted police, and AIR1 quickly located a victim on the ground being kicked in the head by a group of people. AIR1 coordinated with ground units to locate the victim and three suspects at McDermot Avenue / Frances Street. A female in her teens with serious injuries to her upper body was transported to hospital in stable condition.

All three suspects were taken into custody, and a knife and drugs were seized during their arrests. Further investigation determined the victim and the suspects were all previously known to each other while attending the school grounds together before the victim was attacked.

A 12-year-old female and a 15-year-old female of Winnipeg are facing the charge of Aggravated Assault. They were both released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).

A 13-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Aggravated Assault
- Possess a Weapon
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Fentanyl

She was detained in youth custody.
