On June 6, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Guns & Gangs officers of the Winnipeg Police Service observed a male exiting a yard of a residence in the 400 block of Langside Street.
As the male walked toward them, officers observed a knife on his person and quickly placed him in custody after a short struggle. Officers searched and seized the following items:
- sawed-off rifle (loaded)
- extended rifle magazine holding 16 bullets
- black folding knife - brass knuckles
- 3.5 grams of powder cocaine (estimated street value: $280)
- 38 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value: $7600)
- 109 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value: $5400)
- 9 grams of psilocybin (estimated street value: $90) - $295 in Canadian currency
Gino Tyrell Kerwin HALCROW, 24, of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Contravention to Storage Regulations - Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited Device - Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Cocaine, Psilocybin (Mushrooms))
- Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Resist Arrest - Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 3 - Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 6
He was detained in custody.
